At Threemile Canyon Farms we believe that the way you farm is as important as the products you produce. So we constantly strive to find ways to meet our customers' needs while respecting the land, animals and people around us. We're proud that we've been recognized by organizations like Sustainable Northwest for our work in linking good business with sound environmental practices.

Our innovative practices include

  • Wise water use: By installing a high-tech irrigation system and then using natural methods to improve our soil and crops, we have brought needed jobs to rural counties while voluntarily surrendering some of our rights to precious Columbia River water.
  • Wildlife and habitat protection: We placed more than a quarter of our farm into a conservation area, preserving irreplaceable Columbia Basin grassland habitat and the species that depend on it.
  • Sustainable dairy practices: By combining a dairy with a large-scale potato farm we created a closed-loop system that allows each agricultural activity to sustain and improve the other. We produce BST-free milk and raise our own replacement cows so we have total oversight over our herd.
  • Recycling and waste control: Our dairy provides the basis for a compost operation that partners with public agencies and private companies to divert material from landfills and recycle it for other valuable uses.
  • Large-scale green farming: By providing a dependable source of supply, we're helping organic retailers and processors develop their markets.

'Whether it's leading-edge technology or natural solutions, we use the best farming practices to produce high-value farm products in ways that treat the land gently.'
