The farm is preserving grassland habitat.

Threemile Canyon Farms joins with private, non-profit and public partners to pursue its goals of sustainability and to advance public goals of conservation and recycling. Our partners include:

  • The Nature Conservancy: We placed 23,000 acres of our land - more than a quarter of our farm - into a wildlife conservation area, which The Nature Conservancy helps us manage to protect sensitive sagebrush-steppe habitat and the species that depend on it. Our work created a national model for voluntary conservation efforts.
  • The Oregon Garden: We donate compost to The Oregon Garden - the state's dazzling public garden located in Silverton, Ore. - and also jointly market compost designed for home use under The Oregon Garden brand. A percentage of the revenue goes toward the operation of this popular Oregon tourist attraction.
  • City of Spokane: Each year we recycle 50,000 tons of the city's yard debris into compost, diverting it from public landfills.
  • North Pacific Paper Corporation: In 2004, we began composting waste-paper sludge from North Pacific Paper Corp. for use as dairy bedding, finding a new way to recycle and reuse this material.
  • Oregon Environmental Council, Oregon Tilth and the Oregon Business Association: As an active member of these nonprofit organizations, we regularly sponsor activities that promote progressive business practices. We also support the Oregon Food Bank and other local and statewide charitable organizations.
