Rooted in Service: Celebrating National Volunteer Month at Threemile Canyon Farms

For over 25 years, Threemile Canyon Farms has been a proud member of the Boardman community. Being a good neighbor has been a foundational part of the culture here at Threemile. One of the key ways we aim to make a positive impact on our community is by supporting our team members to get involved with causes they're passionate about in the areas we farm and live.

In celebration of April being National Volunteer Month we are spotlighting some of the great work our team members are doing in the Boardman community as well as the greater Umatilla and Morrow counties.

FFA Involvement

Many of our team members were actively involved in The FFA (Future Farmers of America) Organization during high school. The lasting impact of their experiences has inspired them to give back by serving on alumni boards, volunteering their time at competitions, hosting events, and assisting young members with their livestock projects. We believe that playing a role in FFA helps the future generation of farmers by providing valuable opportunities and mentorship.

4-H Involvement

Our team members are deeply involved in the 4-H organization. For the past seven years, Threemile has provided heifers to Morrow County 4-Hers who are eager to learn about dairy. Throughout the program, Threemile team members offer guidance on showmanship, animal health, and nutrition, ensuring the 4-Hers gain valuable hands-on experience and knowledge.

Sports Teams

From basketball to baseball, our team members regularly take on coaching duties in the communities they call home. In Boardman and the surrounding areas, they dedicate their time to coaching, making a positive impact on local sports.

Boardman Chamber of Commerce

Janet Hersey, our Dairy Administrator, is a board member for the Boardman Chamber of Commerce, donating her time to meetings, events, and various other efforts to help benefit her community.

We are proud to have so many team members passionate about supporting youth and community initiatives in the areas where we live and farm.
