Farm Families at Threemile
At Threemile, we are proud to have many families working here together. The holidays are a time to cherish with friends and family, celebrating the season, sharing meals, and enjoying quality time together. This holiday season we want to spotlight a few of the longstanding farm families and share how they like to enjoy the holidays.
The Madrigal Family
The Madrigal family has deep roots in the Boardman community and Threemile Canyon Farms. Forty years ago, Adolfo Madrigal left Mexico for Boardman, seeking a better life. After finding work, he brought his family, and they have been at Threemile ever since. Today, eight family members work here, with over 115 years of combined service.

“It makes me very proud to work with my family. I get to see their achievements first-hand. I get to see them thrive in their roles. It also motivates me to do well in my own role, and it’s very encouraging to have that support system not only at home, but also at work,” says Stephanie, Threemile Dairy Finance Manager and granddaughter of Adolfo.
The holidays are special for the Madrigals. Every December, they travel to Mexico to celebrate with relatives. On Christmas Eve, they hold a "posada," reenacting Mary and Joseph's search for lodging, ending with a nativity scene and "aguinaldos" (goodie bags). They also enjoy traditional foods like pozole, tamales, and mole during the festive season.
The Caldera Family
The Caldera family also has deep roots at Threemile. Growing up, Alejandro Caldera raised animals and worked in agriculture. When he came to Threemile 17 years ago, he decided to stay after his brother offered him a job. He got his start working as a doctor, helping treat animals that were in the hospital, and worked his way up to the position of manager of the youngstock department. Alejandro’s two daughters, Alondra and Andrea, are now a part of the team working in the office.

The Caldera’s holiday traditions start on December 12th with the celebration of the Virgin of Guadalupe. They display nativity scenes at home and have a big family dinner on Christmas Eve, followed by attending mass and opening presents at midnight. Their holiday meals include tamales, buñuelos (fried flour dessert), and ponche (fruit juice).
We are proud to have many families as part of the team at Threemile! Happy holidays from all of us at Threemile!
