Last week, the Threemile Dairy Heifer Program 4-H'ers gathered in Heppner for the annual Morrow County Fair after eight months of practice, preparation and caring for their animals. It was a fantastic week and we are so proud of all the kids and their families who participated in the program this year!

On January 15, 14 kids, their families and their heifers kicked off the 2021 program. Families were given care instructions, the heifers are weighed and loaded, and then the families and their animal head home to get started.

An Oregon dairy was among the winners of the 2020 U.S. Dairy Sustainability Awards announced Wednesday by the Innovation Center for U.S. Dairy. Threemile Canyon Farms was one of three dairies nationwide – and the only one on the West Coast – to receive the award for outstanding dairy sustainability.

Oregon agriculture is a big tent. From the smallest acreage in Western Oregon to the largest ranch in Eastern Oregon, from the newest hemp farm in Central Oregon to the multi-generational grass seed operation in the Willamette Valley, and whether they follow conventional, organic or even biodynamic practices, they are all Oregon farmers.
